Collection of historical scientific instruments. The science of the intangible: Observing and measuring the elusive

Apr 29, 2023 — 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

STCC - niveau Garden, halls 3 & 4

Description

The most spectacular scientific discoveries often concern phenomena that are not directly observable by the human eye or by our other senses. These can be very small or very distant phenomena, or quite simply invisible: electromagnetic fields, radio waves, etc. Science needed to design ingenious instruments to observe, measure or manipulate these inaccessible phenomena. We invite you to discover with us how the intangible has been made perceptible. This project is the result of a collaboration between the Laboratory for the History of Science and Technology (LHST), the CDH Culture initiative and the Museum of the History of Science in Geneva.
