Riccardo Giacconi, Animal, 2023
Video, sound, color, 21min.
The inaugural work of the EPFL College of Humanities' Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Enter the Hyper-Scientific program, Animal is a video about the concept of animation, through the simultaneous exploration of former puppet company Carlo Colla & Figli in Milan and the robotics laboratories of EPFL, in order to investigate artistic and scientific questions at the border between man and machine.
EPFL's Artist-in-Residence (AiR) program reflects the College of Humanities' mission to foster cross-disciplinary encounters and collaborations between artists and the scientific community, inviting professional Swiss and international artists to residencies of three months to carry out innovative and visionary projects at the intersection of art, science and advanced technologies.
