Zebrafish to decipher the formation of the spine

Apr 30, 2023 — 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Bâtiment SV - Hall niveau 1

Description

The development of the spine in the earliest stages of life is regulated by the same mechanism in all vertebrates, known as the segmentation clock. It is this clock that is of particular interest to the team in Andy Oates' laboratory. The aim of their research is to understand how it works, in order to explain how certain malformations such as congenital scoliosis occur in humans, and thus to find remedies. Discover this fascinating "clock" by observing zebrafish embryos, and learn how to turn your smartphone into a microscope!
