Exploring Space Frontiers

Apr 29, 20237:00 AM - 4:00 PM

STCC - niveau Garden, salle 1

Description

For the Open Days, (re)discover six installations from the ‘Cosmos Archaeology: Explorations in Time and Space’ exhibition that was presented at EPFL Pavilions from September 2022 to February 2023. Fruit of a collaboration between EPFL’s Laboratory of Astrophysics (LASTRO) and EPFL’s Laboratory for Experimental Museology (eM+), ‘Cosmos Archaeology’ transcends the frontiers of art and science to render tangible the terabytes of abstract astrophysics data that constitute the human knowledge of the Universe. Turning data into sound and images, ‘Cosmos Archaeology’ embraces the scientific, artistic and human dimensions of space, and transforms the impenetrable abstractions of astrophysics into sensory and emotional experiences. These unique approaches provide innovative ways to access the space-time continuum and plunge us into the depths and the history of the Universe, making us all archaeologists of the cosmos.
